I have facilitated strategic planning processes for local and statewide nonprofits with budgets of $500k to $4 million and with teams of 3-50. The processes have included consenses-building with staff, Boards, and stakeholders, including local and state elected officials and the community at large.

I co-led a year-long, citywide community visioning process that engaged more than 12,000 people in identifying 50 shared goals. After being nominated by the Mayor of San Antonio, the visioning process won the national Civvy’s Award for exemplary civic engagement, impact, and scalability from which other cities can learn.

I co-assessed the community engagement policies and practices of the City of San Antonio, which has a budget of $4.6 million and serves more than 1.5 million people. Following a survey of City employees and focus group discussions with community members, we delivered five recommendations and 19 strategies by which to achieve them.

In 2020, a Fortune 500 company made a $50 million philanthropic commitment to advance equity in education and employment. I co-led an evaluation of the first year of grantmaking and delivered recommendations to strengthen the remaining two years. The company ultimately funded 67 nonprofits across the country with a combined economic impact of more than $1.37 billion.

I co-created and co-facilitated an annual nonprofit board leadership training and matching program called The Board Game. From 2019-2023, we trained 91 nonprofits and 331 future board members on best practices in board development and how to successfully serve on a nonprofit board, respectively. We then matched people to the nonprofits in need of their expertise.
